How To Set And Reach Career Objectives
Once you define your real estate career objectives, you can achieve everything you want by making one step.
One step is all you need to make. One step today, one step next week or tomorrow, whichever is more convenient to you. The important thing is to keep making steps once you have started.
For many Realtors, the first step is often the hardest, and the next step is just as hard. It is only after you have made a series of steps that it gets a little easier. If you aren't making those steps, you need to figure out what is really holding you back.
Goals Are The Journey - Motivation Is The Fuel
Motivation and goal setting go hand in hand. The goal is your journey and motivation is your fuel to get there.
You may have many career objectives, but no fuel to get there. You may have gallons and gallons of fuel, but no journey to go on.
What can prevent you from going on that journey? There may be many more things holding you back than you realize at the moment.
YOU are probably the biggest cause. The way you approach a goal will ultimately affect whether you will achieve it or not. The good news is that you can break free from whatever is holding you back.
Getting Specific With Career Objectives
Career Goal Setting Plan
The following is a simple outline of the factors you may want to consider and identify when setting and analyzing your career objectives in a step by step format.
The above list (sort of) shows you the who, what, where, when, and how of career goal setting. It is just like finding the facts for a story. Journalists have to answer all of these questions in order to get the full story. You have to do the same thing when setting career objectives and goals. Let me show you in exact detail in the next set of questions.
Who will I ask for help?
Who will benefit from my career goals?
Who will I work with to acheive my goals?
What do I want the outcome to be?
What will I do to get started?
What will really make me happy?
Where should I start?
Where will my career goal put me in 10 years?
Where will I apply my resources?
When should I begin?
When do I want these goals to be reached?
When will I apply my knowledge to begin reaching my real estate career objectives?
How should I begin?
How will these career goals affect my future?
How do I really feel about the goals that I have chosen?
All of these questions have to be directed before you can begin to work on your career goals. When you have answered these questions you next have to begin to prioritize them.
Begin by setting short term career goals that will lead you to your ultimate objective. This shows that you are not only ambitious but also motivated and determined.
The key to really achieving your goals in life lies in constantly reviewing your goals and measuring your progress, in other words, keeping your goals on track. This neat little online resource may just be the solution for getting your career objectives right on track!
